Three killed as mini truck hits tree

Three persons were killed and eleven others were injured when a pick-up van carrying them rammed into a roadside tree in Dhamtari district of Chhattisgarh today, police said.

The mishap occurred when the victims were heading towards Dhimartikuri village in Nagri block to attend an engagement ceremony, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Shatrughan Pandey told PTI.

"When the vehicle ferrying around 25 persons reached Keregaon area, the driver failed to negotiate with a slope and the vehicle hit a roadside tree leaving three of them dead on the spot," Pandey said.

The deceased were identified as Jeetendra (19), Rajkumar (35) and Sukhdev Sahu (45), he said.
 

The injured were admitted to district hospital, he said.
