Three killed, five injured in road mishap

Three persons, including two children, have been killed and five others injured in separate road mishaps in Assam's Nagaon and Sonitpur districts today.

The driver of a speeding SUV, moving from Mairabari to Tezpur, lost control of the vehicle and skidded off the road and fell into a ditch at Sunaribali under Samaguri police station, police said.

A school student, identified as Rabia Khatoon, died on the spot and five others injured were admitted to the hospital in a serious condition.

In another incident, an army vehicle hit a motorbike killing a rider and seriously injuring another at Kaliabar Tiniali.
 

The dead has been identified as Swapan Mandal while the injured Tapan Das has been shifted to B P Civil Hospital.

In another road mishap, a five-year old girl, identified as Ankita Kathazarika was crushed to death by a speeding truck in Balijan under Gohpur police station in Sonitpur district.
