According to police, a truck carrying sand was proceeding towards Gujarat from Mumbai and when it came close to Chinchoti near Vasai, the front tyre of the truck got burst, following which, it got overturned and jumped on to a divider and ultimately fell on the other side of the road. A small car was coming from the opposite direction at the same time.
The car came under the truck and those sitting inside the car, identified as Sashikant Rathod (37), Brijesh Desai (28) and Nijam Ali Mohammad Nagrani (23), died on the spot, they said.
Police have registered a case of accidental death and the driver of the truck escaped unhurt.
