Three persons were killed and eight injured in separate incidents during thunderstorm in Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh.

Kusuma Devi (17) and Mukesh (12) were killed while five persons suffered injuries when the tin shed and wall of a rice mill collapsed due to thunderstorm in Pipari area, whereas Lalla (16) died and three persons were injured after being hit by lightning in Tikaitnagar area yesterday, police said.

According to the MeT Department, light to moderate rain or thundershowers occurred at isolated places over the state and heavy rain or thundershowers took place in parts of west UP in the past 24 hours.
 

Chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cms were: Meerut 4, Bareilly 3 and 1 each in Gorakhpur and Najibabad, it said.

Day temperature rose in Lucknow and changed little in the remaining divisions of the state.

It was markedly above normal in Allahabad, Kanpur, Bareilly and Jhansi divisions, appreciably above normal in Varanasi, Faizabad, Lucknow, Moradabad, Agra and Meerut divisions and was normal in the Gorakhpur division.

Highest maximum temperature of the state was recorded at 42.6 degree Celsius in Banda.

The MeT said rain or thundershowers would occur at isolated places over west UP and some places over east UP tomorrow.
