Three killed in road accident in Bihar's Rohtas district

Three persons of a family, including two minors, were killed when they came under the wheels of a speeding truck while crossing naitonal highway two under Shivsagar police station area of Bihar's Rohtas district today, police said.

Sasaram Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Amarendra Kumar said that incident occurred early morning when they had gone to participate in 'Holika Dahan'. The three persons were crushed to death by a speeding truck while they were crossing the NH 2.

The deceased have been identified as Umashankar Gupta (27), his younger brother Vishal Gupta (14) and his nephew Aditya Gupta (08).

The local residents blocked the NH 2 for two hours to protest against the incident, he said adding that blockade was lifted following an assurance that adequate compensation would be given to the next of the kin.
 

The deadbodies have been handed over the deceased's family members after conducting post-mortem at Sadar hospital, SDPO said.

The driver along with the truck managed to escape from the scene, he added.
