Three killed in separate accidents in Jharkhand

Three persons, including two members of a family, were killed and two others suffered serious injuries in separate road accidents in Giridih district on Thursday, police said.

The seriously injured were admitted to Giridih Sadar Hospital, the police said.

In the first incident, a man and his nephew were killed when a speeding bus hit their motorcycle near Usri river on Giridih-Dhanbad road, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Jeet Vahan Oraon said.

In protest against the incident, a large number of local residents assembled on the spot and staged a road blockade for four hours, a police officer said.

The also demanded Rs 10 lakh compensation for the victim's family, the officer said.

 

The road blockade was withdrawn after senior officials assured that compensation would be provided as per government norms.

The second incident happened near the new police line when a person identified as Ajay Kumar was killed and another seriously injured after a truck hit the motorcycle carrying them.

The incident happened under the jurisdiction of Muffassil police station, the police said.

Kumar was a resident of Mangrodih village, the police officer said.
