Three members of cricket betting gang nabbed in Ghaziabad

Three alleged members of a gang involved in cricket betting were arrested in the Modi Nagar area here, police said today.

The accused were arrested while they were placing bets on the India-Bangladesh cricket match last night, said a police official, adding that Rs 55,020 and six mobile phones were seized from them.

They have been identified as Praveen Garg, Shivam, both residents of Ghaziabad and Nitish, a resident of Lucknow.

"Police received a tip-off that three persons were playing betting on India-Bangladesh cricket match, which was being telecast last night, near a hotel in Modi Nagar area. A police team was sent there and all three accused were arrested," said the official.
 

The accused are being interrogated about their accomplices.
