Three minor girls drowned in a roadside pond in Bihar's Sharsa district today, while two others were rescued.

Balaghat police station in-charge Suman Kumar said the five girls had gone to bathe in the pond at Anni village and slipped into the deep water.

While two were saved by people who rushed in after hearing the girls' screams, three others lost their lives, he said.

Their bodies were later fished out.

All of them were aged between 12 years and 17 years and have been identified, he added.
