Three minor siblings killed in fire incident in Punjab

Three minor siblings including an infant were today killed in a fire which broke out in their house in a residential colony of migrant labourers near Focal Point here, police said.

"Three children have died in the incident which took place in the residential colony of labourers," Ludhiana Police Commissioner, Paramraj Singh Umranangal said.

He said preliminary reports suggest that there was a blast in a cylinder at the house of the victims.

SHO, Focal Point, Inspector Kamaljit Singh said that the incident occurred in a small room where the family lived in Sherpur Kalan area when the mother of the three children was preparing tea using LPG cylinder and fire broke out.
 

The woman came out shouting for help and the children were rushed to a local hospital where they were declared brought dead, he said.

The victims have been identified as two girls Lado (1) and Krishna (4) and a boy Nitu (5), Singh said.

He said at the time of the incident, the father of the children, a migrant labourer, was away for work, he said.

A case has been registered in this connection, the SHO said.
