Three more arrested in Chacko murder case

In a major breakthrough, Capital police arrested three more miscreants involved in the kidnapping and murder of K P Chacko, a businessman from Naharlagun.

In an early morning operation, the police team laid an ambush at Hollongi area and arrested the three people after a fierce encounter on Tuesday, capital SP Seiju P Kuruvilla informed in a statement here today.

Based on information the team lead by Naharlagun SDPO Jumar Basar laid a trap and intercepted the trio at Hollongi. During the operation the miscreants fired on the police team to which the police retaliated. All the three accused who sustained bullet injuries were arrested and admitted at R K Mission Hospital here, the statement informed.
 

Police recovered a pistol, 4 live rounds of ammunition, one empty cartridge, one stolen motor cycle, 6 mobile phones and 9 SIM cards from the possession of the arrested miscreants.

The arrested criminals were identified as Daya alias Gunda Basumatary (21) from Baligaon village under Gogamukh in Assam's Dhemaji district, Bikram Boro (18) who hails from Dhorompur village in Gohpur Assam and 22-year-old Dora Sanjay alias Dora Tadu from P-Sector, Itanagar.

With the arrest of the three persons, a total number of seven accused have been arrested in the kidnapping cum murder case.

Police has launched further investigation to arrest the remaining accused who were on the run, the statement added.

Chacko was kidnapped from his residence on August 28 last and his decomposed body was recovered from a jungle near Doimukh on September 6.
