Encouraged by the positive response the National Talent Search and Nurture (NTSN) initiative received in its inaugural season, the organisers have added three more disciplines for the next calendar.
The initiative for school children was conceived by School Sports Promotion Foundation [SSPF] and Sports Authority of India.
"We are so pleased with the response to and success of NTSN in its inaugural season that we have added basketball, volleyball and athletics to our calendar," SSPF Chairman Om Pathak said.

"Last year, we had 23,486 boys competing in cricket and football. We are confident that we will have more than 10 times that number participating in NTSN competitions this time," he said.
Pathak said the support of the Sports Ministry and SAI encouraged them.
SAI Executive Director (Operations & Finance) Hira Ballabh said the NTSN was a wonderful concept to create a culture of sports in the country.
"It is a part of our objectives in SAI to promote school sports. SSPF is moving in the right direction, even if it has drawn upon its own financial resources."
The NTSN 2016-17 competitions are slated to start in the first week of December.
