Three more test positive for swine flu in Jammu

With three more persons testing positive for swine flu today, the number of people infected with the H1N1 virus in Jammu has reached eight, a senior health official said here.

"Today we received 11 test reports out of which three people have been tested positive for swine flu virus," Dr Baljeet Pathania Director health services Jammu told PTI.

He said that earlier five people were tested positive with the virus in Jammu division.

"Earlier test reports of five people had returned positive with swine flu and today we got three new confirmed cases," he said.

The official said that a total of 18 patients suffering from swine flu related conditions are undergoing treatment at the Government Medical College hospital in Jammu.
 

"There are 18 patients who have been admitted in GMC Jammu while eight have now been tested positive, while reports of ten people are still awaited," he said.

"So far, two people from Jammu have died because of the swine flu virus, one died in a private hospital while a student from Rajouri who was studying in Chandigarh died in a hospital there," he said.

He said that the department has been keeping a close watch on the spread of the disease and was taking every possible measure to contain it.

"Today we collected 21 new samples, 63 were collected earlier. While we have so far received 27 reports, remaining reports are still awaited," he said.
