Three persons including a woman were killed and 14 others were injured when an out of control jeep ran over them in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district today, police said.
The jeep driver accompanying the 'Barat' procession in Naiksahi village under Badapokharia police station alighted to dance and another person, with no prior driving knowledge took over the steering wheel, they said.
The jeep mowed down the three when the novice driver pressed the accelerator, they said.
The Barat from Sanachatra village under Jharpokharia police station in the district had gone to the bride's home at Naiksahi when tragedy struck.
The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital, police added.
