Three nabbed with 105 kg of rare medicinal herb 'Nag Chatri'

Three persons were arrested and 105 kg of rare herb, 'Nag Chatri', was recovered from their possession in the district, police said here today.

The sale and purchase of the rare herb is prohibited in Jammu and Kashmir.

During a surprise checking at Nagrota yesterday, a Maruti Van was intercepted and 105 kg of 'Nag Chatri' was recovered from it, they said.

The driver of the vehicle, Baldev Singh and two other persons namely Ravi Kumar and Joginder Singh were arrested in this regard, police said.

A case has been registered and investigation is underway, they said.

Nag Chatri (Trillium govanianum), a rare Himalayan herb, is in great demand in the international market for its medicinal use.
