Three Nigerians held for duping student of Rs 1.7 lakh

Based on a complaint lodged by B Nagesh, the B.Tech student of Miryalguda in Nalgonda district recently, the cyber crime sleuths took up the investigation and arrested the trio, members of a "Nigerian fraud" from Bangalore city, a senior officer of CID said today.

Nagesh complained that he had received an e-mail informing that he won a lottery of Rs five lakh and was asked to send his details for claiming the prize money.

Believing the e-mail to be true, he contacted the accused who asked him to deposit an amount of Rs 1.70 lakh in various banks accounts on different pretexts like processing charges and towards customs tax.

 

The CID officer said during the course of investigation it was found that the victim received calls from Bangalore. On the basis of calls data, a team of CID police went to Bangalore and raided a house where they nabbed three Nigerians.

The police seized three laptops, 14 mobile phones, six data cards and other incriminating material from their possession, he said.

The three arrested were identified as - Osarogiagbon Austine (27), Ikeifun Moses (25) and Maduforo Amaechi Frank (25).
