Three of a carol party die after drunk driver rams them

Three persons above 60 years of age, including two women, were killed while eight others belonging to a carol party were injured in an accident in Dimapur, the police said today.

The accident occurred due to over speeding in a drunken condition at Kevizau Colony, Dimapur district last evening, the police said.

Sources said the driver, identified as Ravi Ming, rammed his vehicle into a group of elderly people from Kevizau colony moving around carolling within the colony on the eve of Christmas.

Three elderly persons, including two women over the age of 60 years and a man of around 73 years were killed on the spot, while three others were hospitalised in critical condition and six others were released after first aid.
 

The police also said as all the victims belonged from Ao community, a mass funeral service was held at Ao Baptist Church Dimapur.
