Three of a family get 10 years' RI in dowry death case

A court in Bihar's Banka district today convicted three members of a family to 10 years Rigorous Imprisonment after finding them guilty in a dowry death case over two years ago.

Fast Track Court-IV judge N K Lal awarded the punishment to the victim's husband Pankaj Kumar Gupta and his parents Ramcharitra Sah and Rekha Devi.

According to prosecution, the victim Mamata had been set afire by her in-laws at their residence in Banka town on November 17, 2010 after she failed to meet their dowry demands.

The police had lodged a case under the provisions of Prevention of Dowry Act against the victim's husband and his parents.
