Three members of a family allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison in Churu district in Rajasthan, police said today.

The incident came to light yesterday when a neighbour went inside the house of a 70-year-old widow Kampa, after no member of her family was seen the entire day.

"Kampa, her son Govind Das (45) and daughter (26) were found lying dead. There was a bottle of poison nearby which indicates that they consumed poison on Sunday night," SHO Taranagar Ashok Kumar said today.

"Primary investigation reveals that the family members were in depression for some time. The matter is being investigated to ascertain more facts," he said.

The bodies were handed over to their relatives after conducting their postmortem.
