Three persons were arrested after 70 pieces of metal biscuits, suspected to be gold, were seized from them while they were trying to board a New Delhi-bound train from Sealdah station in the city, a senior RPF officer said today.
Acting on a tip-off, a RPF Sealdah special task force seized the metal biscuits from the three - Saurabh Shukla (25), Pravin Shukla (30) and Kuldeep Pandey (26), all residents of Uttar Pradesh, at the station platform yesterday when they were planning to board New Delhi-bound Duranta Express, he said.
Two out of the 70 metal biscuits were verified by Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and declared as made of gold, he said.
The Customs Department was informed for further course of action.
