Three persons attempt suicide

Three persons including two women attempted to commit suicide in separate incidents at different metro stations in the national capital during the last 24 hours, police said.

The first incident was reported from Udyog Nagar Metro station of Green Line in west Delhi where a 25-year-old married woman jumped from the elevated metro station onto the road following a spat with her husband.

The incident took place around 9.15 AM when Sarita Sharma, a resident of west Delhi's Peeragarhi and the mother of two, was rushed to a nearby hospital where her condition was stated to be out of danger. She has sustained a fracture in her right leg.
 

Sharma had made a phone call to her husband before jumping from the Metro station.

The second took place at blue line's Pragati Maidan metro station where some prompt Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF) men caught an 18-year-old girl and prevented her from jumping the metro station.

Police said that Aarushi Rajput, who lives in Dwarka area of south-west Delhi, was sulking over some family issues which drove her to attempt suicide.

The third incident came to light at Botanical Garden metro station in Noida where a 30-year-old Ravi Yadav jumped on to the road in a bid to end his life.

The incident occurred at around 2.20 PM. Yadav, who lives in Noida, was rushed to a nearby hospital where his condition was stated to be critical. Police are waiting to record his statement so that the reason behind his extreme step can be revealed.

Meanwhile, the CCTV footages of all the three metro stations are being examined. Further investigations are underway.
