Official sources said the fire broke out when a spark from an overhead electric wire fell on a house. The flames spread and soon engulfed the other houses in the locality razing 200 houses, Ismailpur Block Development Officer(BDO) Parvez Qazmi said.
Two siblings, aged one and two years, and a 55-year-old
handicapped person were charred to death in the blaze while the father of the minor boys sustained injuries, he said.
The villagers later brought the fire under control, he said.
