Three persons were killed today as a truck ploughed into a tea shop at Basmatia chowk in Bihar's Madhubani district, police said.
Some customers were sipping tea at a roadside shop when a speeding truck lost control while trying to stave off collision with a vehicle coming from the other side and smashed into them, Saharganth Police Station in-charge Premlal Paswan said.
While two persons, identified as Surendra Mahto (30) and Videshwar Thakur (55) died on the spot after they were hit by the truck, another person Ramvilas succumbed to injuries on way to Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), he said.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, police said.
The incident triggered protest by the locals who blocked the road for hours demanding compensation to the kin of the victims, the police officer said, adding senior officials rushed to the spot and pacified the agitators.
