Three pilgrims to Kailash-Manasarovar killed in Tibet accident

"A vehicle carrying a group of Indian nationals proceeding on pilgrimage to Kailash-Manasarovar, via Nepal, organised through a private tour operator, met with an accident at Darchen at 1700 hours on July 11, 2012.

"As a result, three lady pilgrims unfortunately lost their lives while two other male family members who sustained injuries are currently at the Ali People's Hospital," MEA said in a release.

Darchen is a small village in Purang County of the Tibet Autonomous Region of China.

MEA is in close contact with authorities in China for providing all necessary assistance to the injured and to the next-of-kin of the deceased in this tragic incident and the Indian embassy in Beijing was dispatching officials to the Tibet Autonomous Region to assist the Indian nationals, it said.

 

The ministry also expressed its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased.
