BJP president Amit Shah today said the central government has adopted a three-pronged strategy to deal with infiltration from Bangladesh.

"Firstly, there will be a citizen register. Secondly, a pact has been finalised with the Bangladesh government to complete fencing along the Indo-Bangla border. And thirdly, steps will be taken to grant citizenship to Hindu refugees from Bangladesh," said Shah, divulging details of the strategy.

Stating that infiltration from Bangladesh is a major issue, Shah hoped the government's new strategy would help check the illegal immigration.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited Bangladesh in June and during the visit a total of 22 agreements had been signed between the two countries, including ratification of the Land Boundary Agreement.
