Three persons including a woman and her paramour have been remanded to three-day police custody in connection with a murder in neighbouring Panchmahal district earlier this week.

Accused Josna, her paramour Gopal Ratilal Sheth (a tailor) and his friend Vishal Shankarbhai Parmar were produced in the court of judicial magistrate first class at Halol yesterday after which they were sent to police custody.

The trio have been charged with murder of Mahesh Parmar (Josna's husband) in the forests of Pavagadh in Halol tehsil of Panchmahal district on February 10.

V R Vajpayee, Deputy Superintendent of Panchmahal district police said the body of Mahesh was recovered from the forests on February 11.

Josna and her husband Mahesh from Fatehpuri village had gone to Pavagadh on February 10 for darshan of Goddess Kalika in a temple located on the hill top at Pavagadh.

On returning home, Josna told her father in law Jivan parmar that her husband went missing while climbing down the hilltop.

She claimed that she had already lodged a missing complaint with police at Halol.

Doubting her statement, Jiva started questioning her during which she revealed that Mahesh was stoned to death by Gopal parmar along with his friend Vishal and threw his body into the forests of Pavagadh.

Police took custody of Gopal and Vishal from the village following a police complaint from Jiva.

During police interrogation, both of them revealed that Josna was also involved in the conspiracy of killing her husband after which she was also arrested in the case.

As per the conspiracy hatched by the trio, Josna pushed her husband while climbing down the hill. Gopal and Vishal who were waiting at the spot where he fell allegedly stoned him to death and fled the scene, the police officer said.
