Three revenue officials held for accepting bribe in Maha

Three revenue officials were arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 at Babhulgaon in the district, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials said today.

They were held yesterday. The trio had demanded Rs 10,000 from the complainant for not filing FIR against him for the illegal mining and transportation of sand from the river bed, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Yavatmal ACB Satish Deshmukh said.

The accused have been identified as Veni revenue circle officer Satish Shirbhate (46),Nandesawangi talathi Atul Khobragade (44) and Veni talathi Veni Kakade (46), he said.

The trio settled for accepting Rs 5,000 as bribe as an initial payment. Following a complaint, a trap was laid in front of the Aakash Cafe in Babhulgaon and the trio was apprehended while accepting the bribe, the officer added.
 

According to police, a case under relevant section of Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered and investigations are underway.
