Three robbers held after brief encounter

A case of robbery of Rs 16 lakh was solved today with the arrest of three persons after a brief encounter here, the police said.

One of the three men, Prashant, received bullet injury to his leg during the firing, they said.

Acting on a tip-off that accused of July 17 robbery here are hiding in a house in Sigma sector, a team of Kasna police raided the house.

On seeing the police personnel, the five persons opened fire on them after which the police retaliated fire.

After which Prashant, Kapil and Dinesh were arrested while two others managed to escape.

During interrogation, the three men told police that they were involved in robbery of Rs 16 lakh at Kasna here.

Police also recovered Rs 4.2 lakh from the accused. Two country-made pistols, one knife, two motorcycles, of which one was used in the robbery.

Efforts are on to nab their accomplices, the police added.

Bike-borne armed men on Monday robbed cousins Neeraj and Anuj, who work as cash collection agents, of Rs 16 lakh cash in Waran Nagri sector here.
