Three robbers held after encounter with police

Three robbers were today arrested in Masuri town here following a shootout with police, which seized two pistols and as many stolen motorcycles from their possession, police said.

Acting on a tip off, the trio, riding on two motor cycles, was intercepted for checking around 1.30 AM today. But, instead of halting, they opened fire, Senior Superintendent of Police K S Emmanuel said.

In retaliatory fire by the police, one of the robbers was shot in the right leg, he said, adding the accused have been identified as Shahid, Waheed, and Rashid hailing from district Buland Shahr.

Two country-made pistols, two used and two live cartridges, 12 stolen mobile phones, six sim cards, Rs 14,500 and two stolen motor cycles, which they used for robberies, were seized from their possession, the SSP said.
 

All of them have confessed to their involvement in several cases of loot in the national capital region, the officer claimed.
