A local court today remanded a village sarpanch, deputy sarpanch and a supervisor of Seonikala village in the district, in judicial custody in connection with the suicide of a labourer employed under the NREGS.

Sarpanch Jaichand Lodhi, Deputy Sarpanch Laxmichand and Supervisor Raju Mankar were arrested yesterday on the charge of abetment to suicide. They were later produced in a local court, which sent them in judicial custody the same day, police said today.

The labourer, identified as Dulichand Lodhi, committed suicide on July 4, as he was not getting wages under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme for quite some time, police said.

A case was registered under section 306 of the IPC against the trio, they said.
