Three sentenced to life term in double murder case

A local court here today awarded life sentence to three persons in a double murder case.

Additional Sessions Judge Amarjit Singh convicted Ramesh Khurana, his wife Veena and sister Bala in the murder case. The two other accused were acquitted as no sufficient evidence was found against them.

According to prosecution, the convict Ramesh was involved in a scrap business here and the victim couple, Ajit and Neena, was his neighbour.

The incident happened on April 29, 2011. There was a dispute between the two over land and Ramesh opened fire on Ajit while he was sitting inside his house.
 

Later, he fired at Ajit's wife Neena who was returning to home after sending their children to school.

Both the husband and wife had sustained serious bullet injuries. They were referred to PGIMER Chandigarh where they succumbed to their injuries.

Neena who was working as a nurse in a primary health centre had disclosed in her dying declaration note that Ramesh had fired at them. His wife and sister also accompanied him, she had added.

Later the police had registered a murder case against Ramesh, his wife, sister and two others.

Ramesh and his wife were arrested and were in judicial custody since then.

The police took his sister Bala into the custody two days back after the court pronounced her guilty.
