Three students feared drown in Siang

Three high school students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya at Geku in Upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh are feared to have drowned while bathing in the Siang on Wednesday.

A group of seven students had gone for a bath in the Siang on Wednesday and three of them were swept away by the river, district information and public relation officer said in a communique here today.

The remaining four students are reported to be safe.

NDRF team has been pressed into action to trace the missing boys.

The Upper Siang dstrict administration has alerted villagers residing along the Siang bank to help in the search operation.
 

Deputy Commissioners of Siang and East Siang have also alerted the 'gaon burhas' of the nearby villages along the river for search and rescue operation, the communique added.
