Three students from University of Tokyo, Japan, are on a 10-day visit to Tamil Nadu to learn about rain fed paddy cultivation and will undertake field visits under a student exchange programme.

The visit was part of a MOU between Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) here and University of Tokyo for exchange of students and faculty, under which two PG students from TNAU had joined Ph.D in agriculture in Tokyo.

The students, as part of the exposure, will visit Kariapatti village in Virudhanagar for the next 10 days to learn about rain fed paddy cultivation, a TNAU release said today.

They also intend to study about the awareness of farmers with the regard to climate change, gobal warming and water efficient cultivation, it said.

The students will also specifically know about the preferences of rural youth about agriculture, the release said.
