Three newly recruited cadres of

the banned Khasi rebel outfit - Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) were arrested by Meghalaya police today while they were travelling towards the Indo - Bangla border with an intention to cross over to Bangladesh.

Acting on intelligence input of some youths bound for the border for crossing over to Bangladesh," East Khasi Hills District police chief M Kharkhrang said that police intercepted two suspicious Sumos and arrested the three youths from a village near the border.

They have been identified as Toni Roy Pale (28) of Kyrdem, Shanbor Maring (19) and Kyrshan Kyriem (28), both of Mawtnum village in Ri Bhoi District.
 

The state police have also launched massive operation along the international border areas following the arrest. .
