Three women pilgrims die on way to Yamunotri

Three women pilgrims from different states died on way to the Himalayan shrine of Yamunotri, located 10804 feet above sea level,in the district.

While two of them died of a heart attack, another was killed after being hit by a rock falling from the hillside yesterday, Barkot police station incharge Santosh Kumar said.

Vasundhara who hailed from Maharashtra was killed on the spot after a rock rolling down from a hill between Jankichatti and Yamunotri hit her, Kumar said.

Kamal Bai from Surat in Gujarat and Mohan Kanwar from Rajasthan died after suffering a heart attack on way to the famous temple.
 

The bodies have been handed over to their respective families after necessary formalities.

Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has expressed grief at the death of the three women.
