Three workers were killed and another one was injured after an ethylene gas cylinder exploded in a banana-ripening centre in Jalgaon district in north Maharashtra today, police said.
The incident took place this afternoon at Anturli in Muktainagar.
The deceased were identified as Shivaji Salunkhe, Nivrutti Patil and Shekh Sharif Shekh Khalu, senior police inspector Ashok Kadlag said.
"After being alerted about the incident, police rushed to the spot and immediately shifted the victims to a hospital, where three of them were declared brought dead," he said.
One worker, who sustained serious injuries in the incident is undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital, he added.

"Bodies of all the deceased were handed over to their family members after the post-mortem," he said.
The exact cause of the blast is yet to be ascertained, Kadlag said adding that forensic experts have been called for an analysis.
An accidental death report (ADR) has been registered at Muktainagar police station and further probe is on, he said.
