Three workers killed in mishap at Jindal Power's Korba plant

Three workers were killed and two injured when a hot iron plate came down crashing on them at Jindal Power Ltd's plant here today, police said.

"Three workers died on the spot when they were trapped under the hot iron plate which crashed at DCPT power plant of Jindal Power Ltd at Dongamahuwa village of the district," Korba SP Praphull Thakur told PTI.

Two other workers were injured and admitted to Jindal Hospital, he said.

The deceased were identified as Alik Barik (35), Ajay Gupta (30) and Mitra Bhanu (19), Thakur said, adding the identity of the injured was yet to be ascertained.
 

The incident, which took place around 10 am, triggered a protest by local villagers, who demanded proper compensation for the victims. They were later pacified by the police.
