The CPI today hit out at the BJP-led Central government ahead of its third anniversary, claiming that the Modi dispensation's tenure so far has proved to be "three years of disaster" in all spheres of life.

The party said there has been a decline in the GDP growth rate during the span, when the government "showered" all sorts of concessions on corporate houses.

CPI General Secretary S Sudhakar Reddy claimed that there has been a decline in almost all sectors of the country's economy under the current regime as it has taken "most disastrous" steps like the demonetisation.

The three years of the Modi government were marred by communal attacks on Dalits and minorities, violation of rights of tribals, the government's poor handling of the Kashmir dispute, farmers' suicide, price rise, unemployment, he said in a statement.

"Three years of this government proved to be three years of disaster in all spheres of life," Reddy said.

The Left leader said the government has "mastered" the art of diverting people's attention from its ill-doings and anti-people policies by raising unnecessary religious and other emotional issues.

Reddy, a former Lok Sabha member, also urged all those "who cherish secular democracy" to unite urgently to resist the government's fascistic onslaught and restrain it from further damaging the country.
