Thrust needed in public-pvt participation in research: CSIR DG

The Director General of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Param Vir Singh Ahuja, today expressed hope that scientific research will receive a boost under the new NDA government at the Centre.

Ahuja also said that there should be a greater thrust on public-private participation in research.

"There should be a new thrust on public-private participation in research and innovative technology to put the country's development on the fast track," he said while urging that India should follow China's example in this area.

"China has made rapid strides within a short period and India should learn from it," he told reporters here on the occasion of the 31st Foundation Day Celebrations of CSIR -Institute of Himalayan Bio-resource Technology.
