The Lhasa Konggar Airport in Tibet region registered a rapid growth by handling over three million passengers this year, senior aviation official said today.
The airport in Lhasa, capital of Tibet Autonomous Region, opened in 1965. It saw passenger numbers exceed 1 million in 2006 and 2 million in 2013.
"The rapid growth in passenger numbers at Lhasa airport shows people's confidence in Tibet's social stability, and is a symbol of the rapid economic development of Tibet," state- run Xinhua news agency quoted a senior regional civil aviation official as saying.
Currently, Tibet has 71 flight routes.
