A 15-year-old tiger mauled an
elephant calf to death in Kodipuram forest of Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve, forest officials said today.
As per the footage obtained from surveillance cameras placed in the forest area, the big cat pounced on the calf and killed it, officials said.
Several cameras have been installed in the forest to monitor movement of wild animals and poachers, if any, they said.
They said there was greater movement of tigers in the area and advised people to not venture into the region after 5 PM.
