Tiger movement increases in T.N. Palayam forest range

The movement of Tigers has increased in four places at Thooka Naickken Palayam forest range with pug marks being noticed, forest officials said.

Pug marks of tigers were noticed at four places during the wild animal census conducted in the Sathyamangalam and Erode Forest divisions from August 26-31, they said, adding, this is the first time movement of tigers has been recorded in the area.

The enumerators concentrated separately on the Tiger population in the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve area.

As per their census, population of leopard has increased and so also other animals including deer.The entire details of the census report would be sent to the Forest Department, Chennai from where would be forwarded to the Centre. The exact population details would be released by the Government, they added.
