A wild big cat was today captured from the campus of Central Institute of Agriculture Engineering (CIAE) at Nabi Bagh area of the city, officials said.

The striped animal, possibly 3 to 4 years old, was spotted by some people who passed on the information to police and forest department officials.

Forest officials reached CIAE and when they tried to tranquilize the big cat, it jumped on the rooftop of a building in the campus. But due to its heavy weight, the asbestos sheet broke and the feline fell in the room from the roof with a big bang, Bhopal Forest Range Officer Jitendra Gupta told PTI.

"We easily tranquilized the big cat and brought it to Van Vihar National Park cum Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre in the City," he said.

Gupta said that the tiger might have sneaked into CIAE from the forested area stretching from adjoining Raisen district to thicket of the state capital.

"We have quarantined the big cat in the park (open zoo)," Van Vihar veterinarian Atul Gupta said.
