Tight security arrangements for Nepal Prime Minister's visit

Tight security arrangements have been made here for a day-long tour Prime Minister of Nepal, Pushpa Kamal DahalPrachanda, who will be visiting Jhakri in this district on September 17.

Elaborate security arrangements are being made for the visit of Prachanda who would arrive at Sarahan by helicopter from Chandigarh, a senior police officer said.

Besides deployment of commandos, jawans of reserve battalion and security personnel in plain clothes, bomb diffusion and Dog squads would also be deployed, Inspector General of Police (law and order) Z H Zaidi said.

Also the area would be cordoned off a day in advance, he said.
 

During his tour here, Prachanda would visit the 1500 MW Nathpa-Jhakri and other projects of Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (SJVNL), which also run the Arun-3 (900 MW) project in Nepal, he said.

The Prime Minister of Nepal would return in the afternoon after inspecting the project, the officer added.
