Tight security arrangements for PM's visit

Around 3,500 security personnel have been put on duty to provide foolproof security cover for the inauguration, which will also see the presence of Union Petroleum Minister S Jaipal Reddy, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.

"We have placed 3,500 security personnel, including policemen, paramilitary force, commandos for the security," IGP (Bathinda Zone) N S Dhillon told PTI here.

Besides, five SSPs of Bathinda, Mansa, Ferozepur, Faridkot and Fazilka have also been deputed for the security arrangements, the IGP said.

The refinery is built by a joint venture of state-owned Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) and steel czar Lakshmi N. Mittal's investment firm.
