As many as 1.47 lakh personnel, including 14,000 from Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), have been deployed across Tamil Nadu for security duty as part of measures to ensure peaceful polling in the single phase Lok Sabha elections to 39 constituencies in the state tomorrow.
In the 60,818 polling stations in the state, 34,209 police personnel and 26,609 persons including retired police and army personnel besides home guards have been deployed for security, DGP (Elections), Anoop Jaiswal said in a release here.
Additionally, personnel drawn from the Tamil Nadu Special Police Force and District Armed Reserve have been deployed for security at polling booths.

A total of 5,000 police personnel have been deployed additionally to man sensitive booths. Also, arrangements have been made to monitor such booths through micro-observers and web-casting.
The CASF personnel, besides monitoring sensitive polling stations, would provide security for transporting voting machines to polling stations and counting centres after polling.
As many as 1,170 monitoring teams have been set up comprising 2,340 police and, 3,510 Tamil Nadu Police Youth Brigade personnel.
Similarly, over 1,500 police personnel have been deployed for duties including guarding strongrooms that house voting machines. Also, 6,000 strike force personnel have been put on duty to prevent untoward incidents.
"All arrangements have been done to facilitate hassle-free voting by the electors," the DGP said.
