"Special arrangements are being made for Independence Day to avert any activity by anti-national elements," Inspector General of Police (law and order) B P Singh told reporters here.

He said that adequate force would be deployed at places where Independence Day functions are held.

"In Lucknow where Chief Minister hoist flag, commandos of Special Task Force and Anti-Terror Squad will be deployed," he said.

Singh said that security arrangements would be beefed up two days before and anti-sabotage checking would be done on the eve of I-Day.

He said that similar directives have been issued by DGP headquarters to all districts in the state.

"Checking would be done at public places, hotels and lodges to check activities of notorious elements," he said.

For Janmashtmi festival, he said that adequate force has been provided in Mathura and tight arrangements would be made in Bareilly, which has witnessed clashes recently.
