As soon as the tigress 'Nang' escaped yesterday, a team of zoo staff, led by Range Forest Officer R Flago, followed it and located the animal near 'Bhuka Nallah' where it was hiding inside a bush.
"It turned aggressive and attacked the team injuring three attendants before running into the forest within the zoo premises," he said.
The team finally located the animal and it was tranquilised before taking it back to the zoo enclosure, he said.
"The tigress is behaving normal now," he said.
The three injured attendants were hospitalised.
Meanwhile, a bear cub was rescued by one Jackiey Teli at Nirjuli, near here, and was handed over to the zoo authority yesterday, Flago said.
