A tigress gave birth to five cubs in the Sanjay Gandhi National Park's Sanjay Dubri Tiger Reserve here about two weeks ago, a forest official said today.

The cubs were spotted in Mendertaal and Bitkhuri area.

"Tiger P-212, which has migrated from Panna Tiger Reserve and is roaming in Sanjay Tiger Reserve since March 29, 2014, appears to have mated with two tigresses," Range Officer Kanti Jharia said.

The tigress is now roaming in deep forest area with her newborn cubs, about two-week-old, in Dubri range, he said.

In September 2014 another tigress had given birth in the reserve.

The park officials were taking necessary care of the new-borns, he added.
