Tigress killed after being hit by train

A tigress was killed after it was hit by a speeding train at Ramnagar in Nainital district in the wee hours today.

The body of an adult tigress with its head badly crushed was recovered from the tracks near Hempur army depot at Ramnagar in Nainital district early today, Deputy Director of Corbett Tiger Reserve, Saket Badola told PTI.

A combined team of CTR and Trai West Forest Division officers has been rushed to the spot to find out details of the mishap and conduct a post mortem on the big cat to ascertain the cause of its death, he said.
 

The post mortem will be conducted as per the guidelines of the National Tiger Conservation Authority, the official said.
