Tihar jail will conduct a campus placement drive tomorrow in which 30 inmates will appear for interviews conducted by 24 companies.

"30 inmates, with good character and who would be released in the next six months and fulfil certain criteria laid down by the companies, will appear for interview tomorrow," Tihar Jail spokesperson Sunil Gupta said.

The participating inmates, with requisite qualifications, would be interviewed by recruiting officials from firms in the Jail no 3 and the successful candidates would be offered the jobs of sales executive, data entry operator and marketing executive, he said.

The campus recruitment drive at Tihar is considered the brainchild of former Jail Superintendent M K Dwivedi. It was introduced in February 2010 as part of rehabilitation programme for prisoners after their release.

Last year, Tihar Jail set a record when 142 inmates were selected by various companies with three of them being offered a package of Rs 3.60 lakh per annum each.
